More About

Chris Carmichael

Chris was heavily influenced by his mother and step-father who helped mold him into the successful son, father, and husband he has become today. His step-father, Skip, was critical in influencing his decision to join the military and becoming a strong leader. Skip was incredibly selfless, a great role model and Chris is grateful to call him his dad. More critical, Chris believes the empathy and kindness taught by his mother, Bev, were the most essential life skills still guiding his direction to this day. The influence of Bev and his wife, Aly, coupled with the desire to promote equality and success for their daughter Maeve; Chris believes deeply there should be no glass ceiling for women. He fully respects a woman’s ability to be and do whatever she chooses, equal to or greater than any man.

Raised in Ohio, Chris was raised with strong mid-west values centered around kindness. After growing up and at the age of 19, Chris joined the military and was stationed all over the world to include South Korea, Guam, Spain, Germany, Afghanistan, Florida, South Carolina, Texas, California, Louisiana, Arizona, New Jersey, and Utah, to name a few. This gave him the unique experience, learning new cultures and perspectives. Critically Chris understands what it is like to be an outsider; a foreigner in a new land. Chris developed a large capacity for empathy and the ability to put himself in others shoes.

While in the military Chris started his family with his then wife, Kris. There is nothing quite like being a father to Maeve, Skip, Raines, and son-in-law Ben. While he has had many jobs to include carpenter, radio DJ, bank teller, bartender, college professor, mechanic, and logistician; Chris says the single best job is dad! Raising successful children is by far the best accomplishment of his lifetime. He is blessed to be their father.

The next chapter for Chris has not been written. With your help he can use his experience to provide strong leadership with integrity and empathy to Kansans in the 4th District. Support him today!
